Kim Samuels - choir director, music educator and author

About
Kim Samuels

Kim Samuels is a music educator who teaches voice and keyboards and leads gospel choirs.

In 2023, Kim published two books for early learners which lay a foundation in the principles of music theory. Rhythm Road and Rhythm Road Rap are fun music books for ages 3 to 8. As well as reading books, they are also theory and activity books with colourful characters from the “Note Family”. Silent Beats was published in 2024 and continues the stories of the Notes, introducing rests – silence as an element of music.

Kim Samuels’ own music journey started at the age of 8 when she was introduced to the piano. She immediately fell in love with it and by her early teens she was teaching piano. Her desire is to inspire the next generation of music lovers at an early age and give them a foundational understanding of music theory. This, in turn, could encourage an interest in learning to play a musical instrument later on.

Kim is currently the leader of Renewal Choir, a gospel choir which she co-founded in 2005 with her husband, Vernon.  In addition, Kim leads the University of the West of England Gospel Choir. Kim and Vernon are also members of The Kingdom Choir who sang at the royal wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle in 2018. The Kingdom Choir is led by Kim’s sister, Karen Gibson MBE.
